Support for the Camdeboo Label

Adding to the prestige of the Camdeboo Label is the fact that it has gained the support of the giant Stucken Group, South Africa’s largest top making organisation. Stucken, which incorporates Gubb & Inggs, processes greasy mohair through the combing and spinning phases. Both Stucken and French manufacturer, ADF, have signed lisence agreements to market the Camdeboo label as an exclusive, high quality product to international weavers of mohair products.

This has been verified by Garth Cawood, who heads up Stucken’s Mohair Division. “Camdeboo is made up of the top 80 growers in the country and there is no question that the quality of their product is superior,” he said. “The brand is being marketed as a select, fine quality fibre and for this reason, we at Stucken took the decision to associate ourselves with it from the outset.”

He said that while the development of the label was still in its infancy, the association would definitely have benefits in the future. He added that Camdeboo products were already fetching better prices at auctions than other growers.

“One of the benefits of this association is the fact that the Camdeboo Group is marketing itself to international weavers as a credible supplier which remains accountable for its products – from a grower perspective right up to the moment when the final product enters the market, bearing the choice Camdeboo swing label.”
