Hooggenoeg
Koos and his son Stefan le Roux, strive for the best quality
mohair possible. With almost 2 000 Angora goats on 2 200 hectare
of land, Stefan is a 3rd generation farmer. The farm
Hoogenoeg – translated directly as ‘high enough gets an average
of 12 inches of rain per year. It is difficult to believe that
during a flood in 1914 and 1916 most of the valley behind them
on the photograph was under water – needless to say the farm got
its name from the farmhouse, which was built ‘high enough’ to
escape the flood waters.
Stefan is committed to growing Angora numbers in the industry
with focus on quality and on-going efforts to drive down high
production costs.
SNYBERG
Brothers Werner and GT Ferreira are serious Angora goat farmers.
Together they manage the mixed farm, Snyberg. Although ostriches
and game form part of their livestock, Angora goats remain a
prime passion. Between them they have won a number of
internationally recognised prizes (Zegna, Diadoh and Myuki).
GT and Werner are
both founding members of Camdeboo.
