BUFFELSHOEK

Donald Maasdorp , his wife Liz and sons James and Charles together with daughter Debra farm in the Pearston district. As a fourth generation Angora farmer Donald manages some 7 700 goats apart from a sizable Merino flock on his 3 700 hectare of land (part of it set against the 6000 feet Coetzee Mountain) with an average rainfall of some 400mm per year.

 

 

SCHOONGEZICHT

As a second generation Angora farmer, Reinhold and Hester du Randt farm in the Pearston district on Schoongezicht – a 4 000 hectare farm. Reinhold and Hester have 3 daughters and a son. Apart from being a Camdeboo director Reinhold serves on the Mohair South Africa board. He manages some 2 000 Angoras and is recognised in the industry for delivering quality clips.

 

    

 

GLENSIDE 

As a third generation Angora farmer, Bennie and Judith du Randt have a clear view over the plains surrounding Pearston. Bennie manages some 1 500 Angoras on  4 000 hectares of land in  a mixed farming operation.  Judith and Bennie have three sons and the farm sees an average of 19 inches of rain  per year.

 

      

 

REDCLIFF

With a proud Angora history dating back to 1894, David Hobson is a third generation Angora farmer. David and Verity have  two sons and a daughter. He manages some 2 500 Angora on 6000 hectare of land with an average rain fall of 19 inches per year in the Pearston district.

  

     

 

PROSPECT

Francois and Lorraine Froehlich manage a 5 000 hectare mixed farming operation, which includes some 1 200 Angoras, in the Pearston district. Average rainfall in the area is 13 inches. Francois is a second generation, Angora farmer. Lorraine and Francois are the proud parents of two sons – Francois and Johan.

 

        

 

MIDDELPLAAS

As a forth generation Angora farmer, Jan Troskie manages some 2 000 goats on 4 000 hectare farm  - Middelplaas  - in the Pearston district. Average annual rainfall in the area is about 400 mm. Jan and Josine are the proud parents of Jan Herman who may well follow in his father’s foot steps a fifth generation Angora farmer.

  

  

WELTEVREDEN

Toit Lötter and his wife farm on this 8 000 hectare property, managing some 3 300 Angora goats as well as Merinos, ostriches and cattle.  They receive an annual precipitation of 13 inches and have 4 children.

 

KAROOPOORT

Quality orientated Bertie and Merle Davenport manage some 3 500 Angoras in a mixed farming operation which includes Merinos and cattle. Bertie is a fourth generation Angora farmer. The average rainfall on his farm in the Pearston district area is 315mm a year.
