KALKDAM
In the Rietbron area, Deon
Zietsman manages some 1 500 Angoras in a mixed farming operation
on 12 000 hectares of land which during the 18 years (up to the
end of 2002) received an average of 4 inches of rain per year.
With limited rain in the region animals must be tough to survive
and the Angora goat can survive difficult conditions at times.
Deon and his wife, Emmery, have three children.

BULHOUER
Rothner Bekker manages
some 21 000 hectare of land with an average annual rainfall of
about 150 mm in the Rietbron region. With some 4 500 Angoras as
part of his mixed farming operation, he produces some of the
finest and cleanest mohair in South Africa. Since 1984,
Rothner’s Angora successes follow on his committed approach to
constantly improving the quality of his mohair. Rothner and his
wife Ria have two children.
